DESCRIPTION
Commissioned by the Tualatin Valley Community Band (”TVCB”) for its 30th Anniversary: 1988-2018

Starting with only 14 players (representing the initial TVCB membership) and growing to full concert band, this piece celebrates: the beginning of the this “community within a community”; the “two rules” that Steve Heuser required of its members (”1. Have fun. 2. Play in tune”); the memory of departed players; and the excitement and commitment of its players.

The piece is structured in one continuous movement with an intro, a march, an elegy, a scherzo, and a return to the march.
